A Memorial Day Salute

www.songsforthebrave.com …A special video tribute to everyone who has served in the US Armed Forces both past and present. An inspiring look at …
I want to take time out on this Memorial Day to salute and pay tribute to all of our military service men and women who have served and are serving these great United States of America. I also want to recognize their families who also pay a high price when their loved ones are away from home serving our country, protecting and defending our freedom, wherever their commission takes them all over this world.
I come from a military family. When I was growing up I experienced what it was like to have my father gone for months at a time. It was hard on my three siblings and me as well as on my Mom who had to be the mother and the father during Dad’s frequent and long absences. He served proudly in the Unites States Navy. Cancer cut his life short.
To me, all those who serve in every branch of military service are the unsung heroes because they are putting their country and loved ones first. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all those in the United States Military, past and present. Our country is blessed because of their commitment, honor, courage, and dedication to uphold our freedom and make us such a great and powerful nation.
I thank God for putting it in the hearts of these fine service men and women to answer such a high call to serve God and country.
I think of this scripture in John 15:12,13. “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
I am so grateful to those who are willing to lay down their lives for the rest of us and especially to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Their heart is a true reflection of God The Father’s heart through His Son Jesus the Christ, the Lord and Savior of all the world.
“For Go so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).
THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU FINE SERVICE PEOPLE!!!
With much love and gratitude,
Abigail Slocum

Prayer Power
Father God, I declare Psalm 91 over all of our brave service men and women and their families. Keep them strong, safe, and protected. I pray they would know and experience your abiding presence, peace, love, joy and power all the days of their lives, in Jesus name. Amen

Abigail, what an awesome post! Thank you for sharing some of your story. I appreciate hearing your heart. I enjoyed the song as well.
We live in a military area and go to church with many, many military families. We are indeed blessed by the freedom they all fight so valiantly to provide for us.
My Dad fought in WWII and only in recent years did I get a glimpse of what those soldiers endured as Dad would share pieces of information.
Blessings,
Sharon

Sharon, thank you so much for commenting and likewise sharing some of your history. The more we share of ourselves, the more we find out what connects us rather than what separates us. I appreciate your taking the time to read my blog and connecting with me!
Blessings dear sister!
Abigail,
You speak for so many of us who want to express gratitude for those who have served in the United States of America’s military. Each day I wake up thankful I have the freedom to worship Jesus and live where I am free in so many ways. If people would really delve into the oppression existing in other nations-or better yet visit-their eyes would be open to why the USA is worth defending and fighting for. God has truly blessed the USA. Thank you to our Armed Forces.
Thanks for commenting Judi. I always get choked up just thinking about our brave military men and women. They are real heroes and such a reflection of the Heart of God our Father who gave us the supreme example and sacrifice of love for all mankind through Jesus! We are indeed the most blessed of all nations alongside Israel!
